Why we need to stay in the skies – London’s Air Ambulance Charity Gala Film
In London every day, on average five people have injuries so critical they don’t have time to get to hospital. Our helicopters bring the hospital to the scene within minutes.
Our advanced trauma team are the only ones in London who can perform emergency life-saving surgery on scene. They can restart hearts, reinflate collapsed lungs and stem catastrophic bleeding, all at the scene of an accident.
We are here for London, 24/7, 365 days a year, but we’re a charity, with 96% of our funds reliant on public support and we are up against time to continue saving lives. By September 2024, we need to raise an additional £15 million to replace our aging helicopters. This film was played to guests a...

Zoltan's story | London's Air Ambulance Charity
Просмотров 1 тыс.6 месяцев назад
In July 2022, while standing on a pavement in Mayfair, father-of-two Zoltan was struck by an out-of-control van. He was initially pinned against a fence railing before it gave way and he fell down a 10ft ledge into a basement. With concrete blocks smashed around him, Zoltan was trapped in the basement area where he had fallen. It was clear that although Zoltan was awake and conscious, he had su...

Our helicopters can get our medics to scene in 11 minutes where they can perform life-saving surgery on London's most critically injured. But our current helicopters will be difficult to maintain beyond 2024. We must raise £15 million by Autumn 2024 to allow us to replace our fleet and continue to serve the millions of people who live, work and commute in London.
What is the role of London's Air Ambulance on scene?
Просмотров 5528 месяцев назад
Several Londoners think the main purpose of London’s Air Ambulance helicopters is to collect patients from the scene of an incident and take them back to hospital. But the role of our helicopters is to get our advanced trauma team to a patient's side as quickly and as safely as possible, so that they can provide the complex care patients would get in hospital, at the scene. They can do procedur...

London, we need you. Every day, five people just like you who visit, live or work in London have injuries so critical they don’t have time to get to hospital. Our helicopters bring the hospital to the scene to save lives. But only 38% of Londoners know that we are a charity, reliant on public donations. Help to make a difference now, and in the future, by telling a friend that we’re a charity. ...

The day began with BBC London presenter Asad Ahmed flying into the helipad at 08:00. • @RupesF
      @RupesF 2 месяца назад

      It’s a procedure known as a Category A take off. In the event of an engine failure, or other technical issue that prevents departure, the flight crew have a cleared area to return the helicopter to - and can maintain a visual on the site throughout the departure procedure too.
